As a requirement of the Victorian government all anglers, including clients on fishing charter vessels, are required to obtain a Recreational Fishing Licence prior to their charter.
A licence can be purchased from more than 950 retail businesses throughout Victoria including Kmart, Myer, Ray’s Outdoors and most retail fishing tackle stores. In Queenscliff, licences can be purchased from the local milk bar and post office.

Exemptions from RFL:
You will not need a Victorian Recreational Fishing Licence if you:
- are under 18 years of age, or 70 years and over
- are the holder of a Victorian Seniors Card
- receive a Commonwealth Age Pension, Invalid Pension, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Pension, or a Service Pension
